• Have soil tested
• Apply lime as needed... now
• Keep lawn cut - high with sharp mower blades
• Assess lawn for weeds... if more than 50% of lawn is undesirable weeds and grasses using Killz All  will allow you to reseed quicker (7 days) if using a broadleaf herbiside, you may have to wait 4-8 weeks before you can overseed! (be sure to read labels)
• Aerate a compacted lawn, this will allow seed, fertilizer and water to better penetrate the soil.
• Be sure to purchase the right type seed for your lawn, sun or shade.
• Purchase high quality seeds for better germination and less weeds
• Sow seed early fall, September is great to allow the seed to germinate and get established while it is still warm, before leaf raking time.
